4,400 certified “Hicaznar” pomegranate (Punica Granatum L.cv.Hicaznar* ) saplings were planted in 2007 on our 59,578 squared-meter land located at Dallica Area of Nazilli District in Aydin Province. This region has suitable climate for pomegranate growing. For the purposes of pomegranate agriculture, a drip pipe irrigation system was installed after a deep well was drilled and that has been liciensed in order to use undergroundwater. Furthermore, drainage pipes were laid down and connected to the drying canal at the Western side of the plant. Following these operations, an energy transfer line of 34,5 KV and a transformer plant of 250 KVA were built for irrigation and cold storage rooms. Additionally, 16 poles of overhead Telecom line as well as 400 meter canalization lines were established.
Agriata Agricultural Products JSC has been cultivating pomegranate since 2008 under the consultancy of Prof. Dr. Nafiz Delen, Retired Academic from the Department of Plant Protection in Ege University, Faculty of Agriculture, Besides the company has granted the Certificate of Good Agriculture Practices (GlobalGap) in 2010.
